Maquinofòbia pianolera is a concerto for piano and mechanical orchestra composed and performed by Carles Santos and CaboSanRoque. The musical framework of a concerto for piano and orchestra is filled here with a game of flirting and confrontation between man and machine, pianist and mechanical orchestra, Carles Santos’s natural brimming rhythmic force and the speed and precision of a computerised mechanical orchestra; and also through the dialogue and contrast between two machines (one as old as a piano and a recently created, computer-controlled mechanical multi- instrument) with very different timbres, since the França Xica Mechanical Orchestra has not only a wind, percussion and strings section, but also other sections not found in a conventional symphony orchestra, such as a water and fluids section or a mechanisms section.
